Client Overview

The Society of Sports Therapists is a professional body supporting Sports Therapists, students and educational institutions while promoting high standards of professional practice and education.

Alongside ongoing website design, development and support, Link Digital was asked to modernise the way the Society manages its members and membership renewals.

The Challenge

Member information was managed across spreadsheets and different platforms, requiring regular importing, exporting and manual updates.

Renewal emails and reminders were sent manually, while individual membership and insurance certificates had to be generated and distributed separately. This created a significant administrative workload for the Society’s team.

Our Approach

We implemented a tailored membership management system using Sales Igniter, Link Digital’s CRM and automation platform.

Existing contacts were imported with their custom data and segmented by membership type. This gave the team a centralised and accessible view of its membership database, removing the need to manage spreadsheets and transfer information between platforms.

Membership Area & Automations

We created a custom membership area with secure magic-link sign-in. This avoided the complications of migrating passwords, issuing replacement credentials or asking members to remember another password.

Automated email sequences now send renewal notifications and follow-up reminders based on each member’s status. Members can sign in, review their details, complete their renewal and make payment online.

Once payment is confirmed, personalised membership and insurance certificates are automatically generated and made available to download.

Connected Website Experience

The platform is connected to the Society’s WordPress website through a secure single sign-on experience.

After accessing the membership platform, members can move into the website’s protected content without needing to sign in again, creating a simpler and more consistent journey.

The Results

The Society now has a centralised platform for managing member records, communications, renewals, payments and certificates.

Since launching the new system, the number of members choosing to renew online has been around 90% above the historic average.

Automation has also removed a substantial amount of administration, while members benefit from an improved online experience.
